About EPIC

Who We Are

EPIC, the Electronic Publishing Industry CoalitionTM, was incorporated in 1998 to provide a strong voice for electronic publishing. Once an authors' organization, EPICTM has expanded to include hundreds of professionals from all facets of the electronic publishing industry: authors, publishers, editors, artists, and others. Our members work together in a unique collaboration to further the industry.

EPIC is not a publisher, but aspiring authors are invited to look at our member publishers. Check out "Our Members" for listings of our author, publisher, and other industry members.

 What We Do

ePublishing has existed for as long as there has been a digital world, but has exploded in the last decade, and EPIC has grown right along with it. ePublishing is already a major marketplace and the future will only bring greater growth. EPIC exists to help industry professionals network and share information about industry trends, promotion, and the boundless opportunities offered by ePublishing. We also offer much of our knowledge base to visitors. Browse through our pages for lots of hints, guidance, and help.

EPIC does not exist to promote any genre or style of work. Our single organizational focus is promoting ePublishing. Among our members, you'll find authors, publishers, and editors of all the most popular fiction genres, as well as non-fiction, self-help, poetry, and how-to. Our membership also includes cover artists and booksellers.

EPIC presents the eBook Awards and Ariana eBook Cover Art Awards at our annual conference, EPICon, . EPICon also features great workshops, networking, great food, and a fine time for all.

Special Programs

NVYWEPIC's members are very proud of our New Voices Young WritersTM Competition. New Voices has become a leading international competition for young authors, promoting reading and writing among middle and high school students while introducing them to the exciting world of eBooks and ePublishing. New Voices has been a launching pad into the world of publishing for many young writers, allowing them their first taste of professional feedback and encouraging them to achieve their dream of seeing their words in print. Established by EPIC in 2006, the competition accepts entries from students attending public, private, or homeschools worldwide.

The New Voices Young Writers forum is a safe place for young writers to receive guidance from industry professionals on all aspects of the writing life.

The New Voices Young Writers website is the place to go for all things New Voices Young Writers!

Aspiring Authors

Welcome aspiring authors!

While EPIC, The Electronic Publishing Industry CoalitionTM, accepts only published authors and industry professionals into our membership, we do want to provide aspiring authors with some tools to assist them in becoming published.

As part of that initiative, we have a few articles that may be of interest:

EPIC Publisher's Coalition Members and Code of Ethics: Publishers that belong to EPIC's Publisher's Coalition have agreed to abide by a specific Code of Ethics when entering into contracts with authors as well as in their dealings with authors. Please note: This list does not include all publishers in business at this time nor does it constitute endorsement of these publishers by EPIC.

EPIC's Model Contract: This sample contract represents what EPIC feels is ideal for authors today. However, this contract should not be considered legal advice or representation and each author should read and understand any document prior to signing.

EPIC's Red/Yellow Flag List: While each publisher in operation today adhere's to their own contract model, please review and understand the red/yellow flags listed in EPIC's Red/Yellow Flag List as these are items, should they be included in a contract, could be concerning for an author.

EPIC's eWorkshop Yahoo Group: This Yahoo group contains an array of free workshops on various writing related topics.  Feel free to request to join the group and peruse the archives at your leisure.  In the future, many of these workshops will be available on the EPIC website.

Over the coming months, EPIC will expand this section to include additional articles relating to the journey to publication.
